Rigging Virginia 1819

Hi, can anybody tell me how the rigging for the block I point to in the picture runs. The description by Artesania isn't to clear about it, and this picture I found on the internet doesn't tell me enough. In the picture it looks like the threat from the gaff runs through the block and down to the deck after going around the gaff again. Is this right? Because I attached the block to the gaff, instead to the mainmast. Thanks for any answers/solutions.

Bronze v Blackened guns

Hi,
I am working on building HMS Victory and looking through all the pictures I can find here from other model makers, almost everyone is leaving their guns in the original metal finish. The guns on the Victory were blackened as were all the guns of that period. Why am I the only one who want to use blackened guns on my model????
