Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

You're in the Forum. You see a member log on that you would like to contact about that planking job on their model, or you both share a common project and would like to exchange some quick information.

Easy you say! I'll send him (or her) a Private Message. You compose the message, and hit Submit. But, poof, they logged off. . Now you have to wait for their response. Well, maybe not.

We have a new feature, a ‘Chat Room’ . And in conjunction with this new Chat Room feature is ‘VbPager’, where you can send an instant Page Message to any members online, or even off line (when they log on, they will get your page message).

Wish you could insert Images from your Photo Gallery directly into a forum post, or even a Private Message? Well now you can.

Look for the little box titled, "My Pictures", just below the "Smilies" box in any of the post editing windows.
Click "Open", and a Pop up window will display all of your photos in your gallery. Instructions are at the top of the window.

You can insert images in four different ways:
1 - Insert a Thumbnail that links to your Gallery.
2 - Insert a Thumbnail that opens the original image in a new window.
3 - Insert just the Thumbnail.
4 - Insert the original Image. Please keep this option to a minimum (one or two photos).
Remember, some of our members connect to the Internet by phone modem, and a lot of full size Images would take quite a long time to load.

See my examples below:
My Shop:

Master and Commander:

Bluenose:

The 'Young America':

For those members (like me), that have a lot of images and or Albums, we're working on a script that will allow the section of an Album and or a Gallery Page. It would cut down on the amount of 'Browsing' you would have to do.

Enjoy, John

I was inspired by one of our members today. He wanted his user-name changed to make his profile a little more personable. Made me think . While the need for distinct user-names is necessary (we couldn't have ten users named "Bill", the database would get confused!), it would be nice to display our real first names.
A lot of members' include their first name in many of the postings. Well now you can do it automatically. If you go to your "User Control Panel", hit the link for "Edit Profile" , and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a small text box where you can type in your first name. When done, hit "Save Changes", and your first name will be displayed in your Member Profile , on the Projects List , and under your user-name in the posts - view (see my name above).
I've included it as an option for new registrants too.
Enjoy,

I've replaced the old links page with a New Links Directory . Members can submit sites to the Directory by using the "Submit a Link" button on the Directories' Own Navigation Bar. As of now there are 16 Categories.
You can edit your link submission at any time. The only thing I ask is to please verify your submitted link to make sure it is valid.
Go to the Links Directory FAQ  for more information.
