Hello fellow ship modelers, I am always happy to share info, techniques, etc. on this great hobby of ours. Please don't think I am arrogant, I am what most consider a professional model ship builder since I make an income building model ships for museums & private parties. I enjoy groups like this because you can never learn enough from my fellow model ship builders.
I will be downloading a bunch of pics of a recent build I completed of the Columbia Rediviva @ 1/4 scale for the Garabaldi Maritime Museum located in Oregon. Please feel free with any comments or questions.
Best wishes to all - Rick

Rick

I'm sure it's some sort of sin to actually make money from ship modeling, but so long as you keep your day job, we'll do our best to overlook your transgressions.
As far as being being arrogant, so long as your postings aren't especially arrogant, no one will hold it against you.

We're all interested in your modeling and are eagerly looking forward to seeing what you post. Of course all suggestions and guidence you feel inclined to offer your fellow modelers (professional and otherwise) will be more than appreciated.

Finally we (the wife and I) are planning a trip to Oregon shortly and intend to visit the Astoria museum. Is it worth making a trip to Garabaldi? Also are there any other interesting sites in the area around Portland (our destination) and the coast?

Regards

Jim

G'day Rick, welcome aboard, when you say you built the model at 1/4 scale, did you mean 1/4 scale which is 3" = 12", or do you mean 1/48 scale which is 1/4" = 12", I was just wondering because at 1/4 scale it would be huge model, as for making money from building models, go for it if you can make a living at it, I make them for people it helps me buy tools and keep up with the bills and supplements my pension, I look forward to your photo's, best regards John.

Hi Rick,
Can't wait to see your photos. It sounds like you've built quite a few ships.
And as far as I'm concerned, getting paid to build models is like getting paid to play golf. What do you do on your day off? :banna:
