Questions for
newbies that may be undecided as to where to start in the hobby.
That was a mouth full, wasn't it?
Don't worry, this isn't a test. There's no 'pass / fail'
here. If you are looking to get in to the hobby of crafting model ships /
boats, this is just a short little look at the various mediums and types in
the hobby. When you get to the final pages within each category, you will
see links to web pages that have many images of both models and images of
the real vessels. There are also links to pages with more information on
resources and books on various related subjects. We hope this may give you
some help in making your selection.
This isn't a 'how to'. This is meant to give
guidance towards making your final choice. The 'how to' part comes when you
have made your choice, and are ready to get started. And that's when the
Forum can be of help.
Note: Some of the sites you will visit are
commercial. This little survey is not an endorsement from the Forum of any
of those sites. Nor does the Forum have any association with them, other
than to provide them as a resource on the relative subject matter.
On the subject of buying online. Sometimes you may not
save that much. If you have a good hobby store in your area, you could do
better. It always pays to shop and compare. (just ask the women in our
lives!). As I was writing this newbie survey one of our members, Al
(SKIPJACK) albisasky posted a message that is quite appropriate. I urge you
to read -
Supporting Your Local Hobby Shop. Thanks Al. Great timing!
