You're starting a new project. You finally get the kit. Like a kid at Christmas time, you gleefully
open up the box, carefully looking through all of the new, freshly packed parts and packets of fittings and hardware. You dutifully glance through the instruction book and pour over Then, at some time during the construction, you notice something is missing. "Funny", "it doesn't say that in the plans".Or the book says this, while the plans don't show anything. How come I have these extra parts? Well, this Thread is for Members to contribute "Add-on notes" on how they built certain parts not covered in, or did not have clear instructions for, a specific kit. Hopefully, posting your add-on note (with any attached images, if you want) will help other members doing the same kit from tearing their hair out in frustration. , or Don't start a new Thread in this Forum. If you have a Add-on note, just hit the 'Post Reply' button in this thread to post your note. Please include the manufacturer, and the name of the kit in the Title of your reply. Example: "Add-on note for Model Shipways' Charles W. Morgan" (makes it easier for other members to identify your add-on note). This "Add-on Notes" idea came from Fred (Flywater). Thank you for the suggestion Fred. ![]() John PS; If any member has collected a lot of Add-on Notes for any particular kit, you could compile them and publish them to the "Shop Notes / Tips " Articles Section. |

One of the things that I have found about the kit, especially dealing with masts and spars, is carefully check the rigging plans and the cast fittings to match. Only after making the upper foremast did I sheck and half of the fittings that I made were included as cast metal pieces.

Well, there were a couple of things I decided to make myself when building the Greek Galiot by Amati. I just didn't like the look of them in metal.
Namely: 1 a metal door ![]() 2 the rudder bar ![]() I think, even if I say so myself, that they're better than the ones provided with the kit. Vasilis
