Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Mr. Shirai's models are excellent and his display methods interesting. Add motion to the scene obviously.

My question would be where does he get the figures?? I've searched the web several times and have never seen "nautical" figures like he uses.

Anybody know the source??

thanks
Tom

You need to go a bit further into his Alert post where he demonstrates how he modifies standard and paints 1/4" military figures . His technique is a bit more advanced than Danny's in that he reposes them and adds clothing, but similar in effect.

Lightbulb Re: figures on ship models

The above diagram by my friend Ken Hamilton gives a good example of how to re-position the various parts to make your figures look more natural.
