| Building the Last Skipjack, The Nathan of Dorchester Looking for something specific - click here |
| Description: | Something to share, if you have ever built the Skipjack Willie L. Bennett or just want to know how a real skipjack was built here is your answer. I found this DVD and had to buy it for myself, “ Building the Last skipjack, The Nathan of Dorchester.” They start from scratch, cutting down the tree for the keelson to the maiden voyage. Ship builders on the Eastern Shore of Maryland built the Nathan in the same fashion that earlier skipjacks were built. Of course they now have some power tool to help but it is the craftsman behind to tool that makes the difference. My opinion is that this is a worthy addition to a model ship builder’s library. You can order the DVD of "Building the Last Skipjack" by mail. Send a check payable to the Dorchester Skipjack Committee for $18.75 ($15.00 DVD, $3.00 S&H, plus $.75 MD sales tax).
