Go, Hans!
Re your coming up a tad short on one shutter plank, did you do much shaving-down-to-fit of previous planks? Curious as to how much margin Model Shipways designed into width of planks. I've just started planking of my model. Fitted one garboard plank. But after drying discovered outline of clamp wire was embossed into wood, bow end of plank. Will soak plank again, hope wood swells. If not, can fill with wood putty. In future will put small pads on hold down wires of clamps used to clamp bow ends of planks. Cheers, Morris. |

I did shave a few down in the bow area, but I had no problems there at all. The shutter plank ended up being too narrow for the aft third of the plank, and I hadn't done any shaving of the planks back that far.
At the moment, I'm bashing my head into the table, bored out of my mind doing the stitching on the sails. I have no choice, it MUST be done by Friday night for a local model show. So I have to just keep pushing forward. I'm also a bit peeved right now.... windows took a dump on me last week, and I had to reinstall it all. Lost most of my in-progress photos when that happened. |
